This policy explains what information FindsBest collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We built this site to collect as little as possible while still being able to run it — if something here is unclear, ask us.

1. Information We Collect

Analytics data. We log anonymous, aggregate visit data — which pages were viewed and a rough visitor count per day — using a hash of your browser session identifier, not your IP address or any other personally identifying value. This lets us see which pages are popular without being able to identify you individually. If Google Analytics (GA4) is enabled on this site, Google separately collects data under its own privacy policy; see the Third-Party Services section below.

Information you provide directly. When you submit the contact form or write a device review, we store the name, email address, and message/review content you provide, so we can respond to you or display your review publicly.

Search queries. We log the text of searches performed on this site (not tied to your identity) so we can see what people are looking for and improve our catalog.

2. How We Use Your Information

To respond to contact form submissions and display device reviews you choose to publish.
To understand site usage in aggregate (popular devices, popular searches) so we know what to add or fix next.
To detect and prevent spam or abusive submissions (e.g., a honeypot field and basic rate-limiting on forms).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use contact form or review data for advertising.

3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use one essential session cookie required for the site to function — it stores a security token (CSRF protection) used to confirm form submissions actually came from this site. This cookie contains no personal information and expires when you close your browser or your session times out. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may set its own cookies to distinguish visitors across sessions, governed by Google's own cookie policy.

4. Third-Party Services

Depending on what's enabled at any given time, this site may use:

Google Analytics (GA4) — aggregate traffic analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Search Console — a verification tag with no data collection of its own; it confirms site ownership to Google.
YouTube embeds — videos on our Videos page and elsewhere are embedded from YouTube, which can set its own cookies and collect viewing data per Google's policy.
Affiliate retailer links — clicking a "Buy" or price link takes you to a retailer (e.g., Amazon, Flipkart) that may set its own tracking cookie to attribute the referral. That is governed entirely by the retailer's own privacy policy, not ours.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse of the site.

6. Data Retention

Contact form messages and reviews are retained until you ask us to delete them or until they're no longer needed for the purpose they were collected for. Anonymous analytics data is retained in aggregate form and is not tied to any individual after the fact.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any personal information you've submitted (a contact message or a review) by contacting us with enough detail to identify your submission. You can also disable cookies in your browser at any time; doing so may affect some site functionality, such as submitting forms.

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Security of Your Information

We use industry-standard practices to protect information submitted to this site, including hashed passwords for admin accounts, CSRF protection on all forms, and parameterized database queries. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
